Navalny was indeed awe inspiring. We need our heroes like we need air and water. They help give us courage to stand for what we believe in. Navalny apparently was inspired by Natan Sharansky, another courageous Russian dissident, first through Sharansky's book, then through direct correspondence with him. One could well make the case that Ayaan Hirsi Ali is also a brave, resilient, inspiring hero. Whatever form of tyranny we refuse to bow down to, in the end the only way to be able to look ourselves in the mirror is to stand our ground.
