If Wilders saw no coalition partner willing to execute meaningful immigration reform within a reasonable time, better to leave the coalition before voters reject them at the next election and go the way of the Tories. It is as though if he were British, he left the sinking ship of Sunak's coalition and jumped abord the smaller but faster HMS Farage. Too soon to know if it will run aground.

I've read one or 2 pieces suggesting it a stroke of hopeful political mastery but contend your appraisal of the situation more soberly.

A pleasure to read as always.

I really, really want to hear AYAAN on this matter. I appreciate Mr. Daniel's position, logical as it may be, but Geert Wilders has been fighting the Dutch culture fight for awhile now, and the exigencies of coalition may have pushed him to extremes -- which may not be a bad thing! Please, let us hear someone who has worked with the man -- Ayaan Hirsi Ali.
